Discovery of a Bovine Enterovirus in Alpaca
A cytopathic virus was isolated using Madin-Darby bovine kidney (MDBK) cells from lung tissue of alpaca that died of a severe respiratory infection. To identify the virus, the infected cell culture supernatant was enriched for virus particles and a generic, PCR-based method was used to amplify potential viral sequences. Genomic sequence data of the alpaca isolate was obtained and compared with ...
متن کاملBovine enterovirus 2: complete genomic sequence and molecular modelling of a reference strain and a wild-type isolate from endemically infected US cattle.
Bovine enteroviruses are members of the family Picornaviridae, genus Enterovirus. Whilst little is known about their pathogenic potential, they are apparently endemic in some cattle and cattle environments. Only one of the two current serotypes has been sequenced completely. In this report, the entire genome sequences of bovine enterovirus 2 (BEV-2) strain PS87 and a recent isolate from an ende...
متن کاملThe complete nucleotide sequence of a bovine enterovirus.
The complete nucleotide sequence of the genome of a bovine enterovirus (strain VG-5-27) has been determined using molecular cloning and DNA sequencing techniques. Excluding the poly(A) tract the genome was 7414 nucleotides long and contained a 5' non-coding region which at 818 nucleotides was longer than that of most picornaviruses. The single large open reading frame encoded a potential polypr...
متن کاملChemically synthesized peptides elicit neutralizing antibody to bovine enterovirus.
Synthetic peptides representing 14 regions of the bovine enterovirus structural proteins were used to raise antibodies in mice. The peptides were predicted using amino acid sequence alignments with the position of antigenic sites on other picornaviruses. Five of the anti-peptide antibodies reacted with the virus in an immunoprecipitation test. Furthermore, each of these anti-peptide antibodies ...
متن کاملFull Genome Sequence of a Bovine Enterovirus Isolated in China
We report the full genome sequence of an isolate of bovine enterovirus type B from China. The virus (BEV-BJ001) was isolated from Beijing, China, from fecal swabs of cattle suffering from severe diarrhea. This genome sequence will give useful insight for future molecular epidemiological studies in China.
